Abstract

Using authentic materials in teaching reading refers to the practice of using real-life texts and materials such as newspapers, magazines, advertisements, and websites to help students improve their reading skills. This approach aims that reading is a fundamental skill that is essential for academic success and everyday life. In order to effectively develop students’ reading abilities, educators are constantly seeking innovative and engaging teaching methods. One approach that has gained recognition in the field of language education is the use of authentic materials in teaching reading. Authentic materials, such as newspapers, magazines, and websites, provide learners with exposure to real-world language use and cultural context, which can significantly enhance their reading comprehension and critical thinking skills.
